5 Business Ideas You can Start From Your Home

Business Ideas You can Start From Your Home

  1. Freelancing

Freelancing is one of the business ideas that is often hammered upon (you hear things like: freelance writer, graphic designer, programmer etc) almost all the time. It is so broad that it cannot be covered in a single blog post. Depending on what skill you have or what service you feel could offer, you could sign up on freelance sites, create your portfolio and begin to bid for jobs.

You could equally register on forums, an example here in Nigeria is the Nairaland Forum, where many have seized the opportunity to advertise themselves and their expertise thereby getting jobs online and making money from the comfort of their homes.

  1. Start A Blog

In 2017 blogs were rated the highest medium of information dissemination. Starting a blog is not difficult and depending on the platform you choose to start your blog, you could be up and running in less than an hour.

Note that the most important rule when starting a blog is to find a niche that attracts a good readership. If you are not good a writer you could enlist the service of freelance writers for a very cheap price, giving him/her the amount of words you want and of cause with well researched keywords.

There are various ways you could monetize your blog, by selling ad space, joining affiliate programs like Amazon, signing up on advertising sites like Adsense or Content.ad.

It is important to know that for a blog to become successful and gain authority it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, patience and consistency. I believe that blogging opens your mind to lots of business ideas as you get to meet new people and interact and share ideas online.

  1. Mini importation/Online Sales

Most times when people hear the word importation, they think of a millionaire or billionaire who is importing containers full of goods from China, America or any other European country.

With as little as N50,000 you could become an importer doing mini importation from china and selling your products both online with platforms like Konga, Jumia etc, or you could market them yourself offline. Either way it’s a win win situation.

  1. Cryptocurrency Trading

Crytopcurrencies are here to stay and seems to be the talk of the town these days. I remember attending a seminar organized by a church and they invited a guy to lecture on people on cryptocurrencies. People around are making lots of cash trading these currencies.

I first heard about Bitcoin in 2013 and I was a bit skeptical about it so I didn’t buy any even though it was so cheap at that time and exchange rates in Nigeria was still around N170 per dollar.

Bought my few coins in 2015 and now I am glad did, even though I regretted not buying earlier on.

Though these digital currencies are highly unstable that it is to say today it is on a high side, tomorrow it drops down low. It is advisable to do a lot of research both online and offline before choosing to invest on any of the cryptos.

  1. Domain flipping

I can’t say for sure how popular the word “domain flipping” is in Nigeria. I first came across it online in 2014. I was puzzled as to how I could buy a domain name; list it on domain sales site or with parking sites and make money. I bought my first domain name for just $1 on GoDaddy and in November 2014 and sold it in January 2015. Making a profit of about $98.

Well if you ask the gurus in domain flipping world they will probably tell you that what I earned was peanuts and they are probably right. Knowing that people make thousands of dollars selling domain names online.

Sometimes you could have a domain name for over a year with no offers, some other time you can flip a domain name in as short as a month time. Ensure you do proper research before venturing into the business.

Opportunities present themselves every day in form of business ideas. And it’s up to you to take advantage of them and give yourself the financial freedom you deserve. The five business ideas are only an icing on the cake and the interesting part of it all is that you can lunch all from the comfort of your home. Time is Money.
