6 Bad Habits Every Entrepreneur Must Give Up To Be Successful
An Entrepreneur turned mentor once said to me; “Sometimes to become successful and get closer to the person you want to become, you don’t need to add more things to yourself. You need to give some of them up”.
There are certain things, habits, addictions that seem as though you cannot do without them, but giving up on them will mark your journey to becoming successful.
In this article we are going to be looking at some of these habits and how we could possibly do away with them so as to be better entrepreneurs.
- Quit The Unhealthy Lifestyle
This is mostly common especially among young entrepreneurs; most youths have formed a habit of eating and drinking carelessly not minding their body.
“Take care of your body, it is the only place you have to live” – Jim Rohn
“Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness” – Edward Stanley
Achieving any set goal in life starts from here. Health is wealth. For it is only a healthy person that can set goals and make plans. First take care of your health by bearing this three things in mind.
- Quality sleep
- Healthy meal
- Physical activity
- Anything to minimize stress
Learn To Think long Term
Successful entrepreneurs do not have a short-term mindset. They have foresight and set long term goals. They think about tomorrow and not just the merriments of today.
Healthy habits shouldn’t be something you do to fulfill all righteousness, it should become a part of you, and it should be something you embody.
Most people see opportunities come their way, a chance to take the bull by the horn. Yet you find them procrastinating maybe as a result of fear or just shear laziness.
Every successful entrepreneur understands that he/she is responsible for what happens in their life, no matter their family background, starting point or weakness.
Being able to take full responsibilities for whatever happens in your life is the mindset that every person who wants to be successful should have. Because excuses prevents us from developing personally and even professionally.
I believe that this word cannot be over emphasized. Wherever you find yourself it is important that you try as much as possible to do away with the spirit of laziness. Learn to be agile do the things you are supposed to the time you are supposed to them.
To be a successful entrepreneur, take control over your mind, your focus, attention and bring out the best from the 24 hours that you have in a day.
Go for break when it is time for break. Working hours shouldn’t be the time that you will decide to rest on transfer your responsibility to some other person to handle them for you.
Quit The Toxic people (QTTP)
As the saying goes, “show me your friend and I will tell you who you are”. It goes to say that the people you spend the most time with add up to who you become.
If you spend time with negative people, those who never take responsibility for their actions, those who like to put the blame on others. You will in no time begin to reason and act like them thereby reducing your opportunity to succeed.
However, if you spend time with positive people who are optimistic about life, who take out the positives from every situation, you will begin to think and act like them and become more successful.
Do you need to make changes in the company you keep today? Think hard prospective entrepreneur.
Albert Einstein said and I quote “people you spend the most time with, add up to who you become”
Focus On One Thing At A Time
Successful entrepreneurs know this secret. Learn to choose one thing at a time, do not multi-task. Find that one thing and beat it into submission. Whether it is a business idea or a skill.
Don’t be a jack of all trade, master of non.
